Events planned for the 2013-2014 AY are listed below. Most of our events are planned in coordination with other student groups at UCLA, such as ASCE and CalGeo. If you would like to have your event added to the list, or have an idea for an event, please contact us at uclaeeri@gmail.com.

4 Aug, 2016: The EERI student chapter at UCLA will be hosting its seventh session of summer research roundtables on Thursday, August 4th, with two presentations from our two undergrad researchers from Morgan State Univerity: Kogi Afriyie and Evely Macedo.

28 Jul, 2016: The EERI student chapter at UCLA will be hosting the sixth session of summer research roundtables on Thursday, July 28, with a presentation by Mehrdad Shokrabadi on "Aftershock Collapse Risk in Reinforced Concrete Frames", which is followed by discussion and lunch. The goal is to expose students to ongoing research, build connections and just have a good time (it IS summer!)

21 Jul, 2016: We will be hosting the fifth session of summer research roundtables on Thursday, July 21st, with a presentation by Daniel McCrum, a visiting researcher from England, on "seismic retrofitting of reinforced concrete structures using shape memory alloys", which is followed by discussion and lunch.

14 Jul, 2016: Our fourth session of summer research roundtables will be held on Thursday, July 14th, with a presentation by Grace Parker on "Empirical linear seismic site amplification in central and eastern North America", which is followed by discussion and lunch.

7 Jul, 2016: EERI at UCLA will be hosting the third session of summer research roundtables on Thursday, July 7th, with a presentation by Dr. Dong Youp Kwak on "Seismic risk assessment for levee systems", which is followed by discussion and lunch.

30 Jun, 2016: The EERI student club at UCLA will be hosting the second session of research roundtables on Thursday, June 30th, with a presentation by Dr. Paolo Zimmaro on "Levee Risk Assessment Procedures", where he will present his work on site specific seismic hazard analysis and ground failure assessment, which is followed by discussion and lunch.

23 Jun, 2016: The EERI student club at UCLA will be hosting research roundtables this summer every week, with short presentations followed by discussion and lunch. The goal of the time is to expose students to ongoing research, build connections and just to have a good time (it IS summer!).

24 Jan, 2015: EERI and the UCLA student chapter of EERI will host a free one-day training workshop for professional and student members. The Earthquake Reconnaissance Data Collection Training Workshop will explain the role that EERI plays in post-earthquake reconnaissance and will highlight specific ways workshop attendees can participate in future reconnaissance activities after an earthquake in their area.

5 Nov, 2014: We will be holding our first general meeting on Wed 11/5 in Boelter Hall Room 4275 from 6-7pm. We'll go over some genral stuff, and more importantly form a committee to organize our upcoming event Post-earthquake Reconnaissance Training Workshop which is hosted on behalf of the professional-level EERI. Membersip is open to all undergrad and grad students, so come by to learn more and have some pizza!

14 Oct, 2014: The EERI Student Leadership Council (SLC) announced the competition rules for the 2015 EERI Seismic Design Competition. The 2015 competition will be hosted in Boston, MA in conjunction with the 2015 Annual EERI Meeting from March 31st to April 3rd. For more information visit SLC's website.

24 Jan, 2015: EERI in coordination with EERI @ UCLA hosted a free one-day training workshop for professional and student members on January 24th at UCLA. The Earthquake Reconnaissance Data Collection Training Workshop was held to explain the role that EERI plays in post-earthquake reconnaissance and highlight specific ways workshop attendees can participate in future reconnaissance activities after an earthquake in their area. 21-25 July, 2014: 10th National Conference on Earthquake Engineering, co-hosted by EERI, FEMA, and NEES. This year's annual EERI meeting will be hosted in conjunction with the NCEE, a forum for presentation of advancements in earthquake engineering for academics and practitioners across the country and beyond. Several student members of UCLA EERI will be attending the conference to present papers and participate in the undergraduate seismic design competition. More information is available at http://10ncee.org/

30 May, 2014: The 6th annual Geo-Expo, hosted by the CalGeo club. The event will feature a a keynote lecture on the Wilshire Grand project regarding the geotechnical and seismic investigation and design of the building. Geotech phD students will also be giving brief talks about their research. To RSVP, use this form. To learn more about this event click here
